MIP Inpatient Power Up Packs

The truth is, getting through something difficult is much easier when you have help.

MIP Power Up Packs*, or as we fondly call them- PUPS, are canvas bags filled with items to help an inpatient AYA feel better. PUPs also serve as a tool that a social worker or child life specialist has on hand to engage in a conversation with an AYA, that when it comes to dealing with being in the hospital, let alone navigating a cancer diagnosis, it is ok to ask for help. In fact, it’s important to ask for and accept help!

MIP Power Up Packs reinforce that accepting help and building a support system is an important part of managing their mental wellness. Everyone’s support system will look different because every person has different needs and ways of being supported. And that is ok!

We love this article that helps explain support systems: A Guide To Building a Support System.

*Power Up Packs are currently available to AYA oncology patients at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and Nemours Children’s Hospital (Wilmington, DE). If you are interested in this program, please reach out to Melissa.theMIPFoundation@gmail.com
